Sound familiar?
Thousands of families across the UK are asking the same question: is there a better way?
01
The morning dread is real. Crowded corridors, unpredictable social dynamics, and a rigid day with little breathing room — for many children, traditional school has become a daily source of stress rather than growth.
02
In a standard state or private school classroom, a bright, curious child can spend years without being truly seen. Personalised learning is a promise rarely kept when one teacher faces thirty students.
03
Wherever you are in the UK and around the world, maintaining a rigorous British curriculum education — with full continuity — has historically meant compromising on quality or convenience.
04
Training schedules don't fit school timetables. For young athletes and performers chasing national goals, a flexible, accredited online school is no longer a compromise — it's the strategic choice.
05
High-stakes exam years demand focused, expert teaching. Yet in large schools, support is often one-size-fits-all. Your child deserves a specialist teacher who knows exactly where they are and what they need next.
06
You've visited, read the league tables, toured the campuses. None of them quite fits. Perhaps an accredited British independent school — delivered online with small classes and master teachers — is exactly what you've been looking for.
“
“What if your child could have the rigour of a top independent school, in an online school environment built entirely around their potential?”
The Sophia Difference
01
With a strict maximum of 8 students in core subjects, no child hides at the back. Our teachers see exactly where your child is in their work — live, during every lesson. Small class sizes aren't a feature; they're the foundation of everything we do.
02
Every core lesson is taught live by a specialist teacher. We maintain a cameras-on policy because real learning happens through connection and active participation. Lessons are recorded and saved in each student's Digital Notebook for review at any time.
03
Our teachers are highly experienced subject specialists — many are former Heads of Department or practising examiners for Pearson Edexcel. They use interactive digital tools to see live exactly where each student is and how to move them forward.
04
Every student begins the day with their form tutor in Holistic Horizons — a structured PSHE session. Secondary students are also assigned a weekly mentor. Wellbeing isn't an afterthought; it's a daily commitment at Sophia.
05
Core academic lessons run Monday–Thursday within 8am–4pm UK time. Fridays are dedicated to our celebrated Enrichment programme — App Development, Marketing, British Sign Language, Debate Club and more. All lessons are recorded for athletes or international families.
06
Parents are invited as guardians in our secure Google Classrooms — full visibility of Digital Notebooks and lesson recordings at all times. Weekly or bi-weekly progress meetings, a parent dashboard, and a dedicated Lead for Student Success keep you entirely in the loop.

What Families Say
Our child is very well supported by the academic and pastoral staff, and has really enjoyed the enrichment activities on Fridays. The tutors are wonderfully flexible, and our child has thrived this year. I would wholeheartedly recommend Sophia High School.
Year 12 family · Joined September 2025
Sophia provided exceptional support from the day he joined — a patient, tailored approach built entirely around his needs. Within two weeks his enthusiasm for learning had returned, and he became noticeably happier, more engaged, and eager to talk about his subjects.
Secondary · 18 months at Sophia
Ever since joining Sophia, I have been supported and guided through my educational journey. Teachers and students create such a kind and welcoming environment, and learning is presented in a unique way through an online setting. For me, Sophia has always been a place of positivity and care.

Common Questions
Everything you need to know before booking a call.
For many children, yes: those who feel anxious
or unseen in large classrooms, families who relocate, young athletes and performers, and
students who simply want to be taught properly in a small group. The best way to find out is a
conversation with our Admissions Team.

(Reception to Year 6), £10,815 for Lower Secondary (Years 7 to 9) and £13,455 for Upper
Secondary (Years 10 to 13, IGCSEs and A-Levels), plus VAT for UK residents. Fees can be
paid annually or termly, sibling discounts are available, and external exam centre fees are
billed separately. Full details are on our School Fees page.
Every core lesson at Sophia is taught
live by a qualified specialist teacher, cameras on. Lessons are recorded into each student’s
Digital Notebook for revision, but the teaching itself always happens live.
Q3 Is Sophia an accredited online school? — Yes. We are a full-time Britis
Yes. We are a full-time British independent
online school accredited by the UK Department for Education (DfE), a member of COBIS and
ISA, and a Pearson Edexcel Accredited Virtual Centre.
Yes. As a Pearson Edexcel
Accredited Virtual Centre we offer remote invigilation for IGCSEs and International A-Levels,
so exams can be sat at home under secure supervision (an examination fee applies).
Core lessons run Monday to Thursday
within an 8am–4pm UK window, with breaks and independent study built in. Fridays are
dedicated to our Enrichment programme. All lessons are recorded, which keeps the timetable
genuinely flexible if you child misses any lesson.
With homeschooling, you
deliver the curriculum yourself. At an online school like Sophia, your child is enrolled in a real
school — live daily lessons, a form tutor, specialist teachers, pastoral care and a community
of classmates — all from home.
Our small class sizes are inherently more supportive for students with additional needs. Teachers use visual learning cues, adaptive digital tools, and real-time Digital Notebook feedback to personalise every lesson. We work closely with families before enrolment to map individual learning profiles. We also offer dedicated English language support for students where English is an additional language.
